Native Ground Covers

Native ground covers are the workhorses of a native garden — spreading to fill gaps, suppress weeds and retain soil moisture, all while adding colour and texture at ground level. Many flower prolifically, attracting native bees, butterflies and other pollinators throughout the year.

Low-growing and hardy, native ground covers are ideal for softening garden edges, covering banks or filling the space beneath larger shrubs and trees. Once established, they need minimal upkeep compared to traditional garden mulch beds or lawn alternatives.

All our native ground covers are grown from local provenance seed, so they're suited to the soils and climate of the Casey and Cardinia region.

Native ground cover plants are good for: weed suppression, garden bed fillers, bank stabilisation, pollinator gardens.
